The kick-off meeting of the EU-funded B-FREE Project took place in Oslo, Norway on 19 January 2026, hosted by Oslo Orcas IF.
B-FREE (Team Up for Respect: Promoting Bully-Free Zones in Grassroots Sports) is a 24-month Erasmus+ Sport initiative that aims to tackle peer bullying in grassroots sport and help create safer, more inclusive, and respect-based sport environments. The project focuses on evidence-based education and capacity building, addressing different forms of bullying young athletes may face (such as verbal, social exclusion, and physical intimidation).
During the meeting, the consortium reviewed the project vision and roadmap. Partners introduced their organisations and shared their roles within the project, followed by an overview of the structure, interconnections, and key outputs of the WP1–WP5 work packages. In terms of project management, the importance of timely delivery, continuous communication, and strong coordination was particularly emphasised.
As Sport Singularity, our role in the project focuses on exploring how digital platforms can contribute to bullying among young athletes and supporting the development of strategies to reduce cyberbullying.
In the next phase, we will continue working on actions that empower young athletes, strengthen coaches’ capacities, and support sports clubs with practical policies and tools. The project’s core goals include empowering young athletes, improving the capacity of coaches and staff, establishing effective policies and support structures within clubs, and promoting a culture of respect and integrity in sport.
